Tom has been on the road most of the time since 'carpet weekend' so we haven't been out to work on the place, but I did stop in this past Saturday just to see if the air was a little fresher now that the carpets are gone. Much improved! Yay!
My brother Paul, who has really good handyman/construction skills, has been doing some of the work for us, during his off-hours. So there has been some progress made even though we haven't been there. :)
He checked the well, which seems to be working properly; the hot water heater filled and doesn't seem to leak; he is installing toilets in the bathrooms and replacing some plumbing pipes under the kitchen sink. This is all great news. :))
The best news is that it looks like our major plumbing pipes are fine. We were anticipating having to repair burst pipes, etc, but it appears that we don't have any that need repair. Yaaaay!!!
We have a large construction dumpster coming today, and Paul is going to start filling it with some of the materials from the other demo'd house that was left on the property. And he has someone lined up to take the steel beams, aluminum sheeting, and other construction materials that can be reused for something else. Glad to see someone get some use out of materials that would have otherwise gone to waste.
I couldn't find any option to recycle the old carpeting and foam pad, so that's dumpster bound too.
We are ready to get up there and do more cleaning, and I know Tom wants to start on some of the demo and repairs too. I'm thrilled that we'll have water once all the outgoing plumbing lines are given a thumbs up. Happy with the progress! :))
